If You Knew What I know and Saw What I Have Seen! An Ode To Granny

There was a cruel irony in the way this gravestone stared back. The questions it posed; a provocation to the murky oblivion that has become of many a fallen Matriarchs. They say a picture speaks of a thousand words! What they never say however, is that the real power is embedded in the stories we derive from these “a thousand” words: That those who inscribe these get to rule the world. For more than 100 years, she had explored the stream of civilization. Inside it, she had witnessed life unfold as a child and a young adult. Like Will Durant, the philosopher, once observed, inside this stream, she had witnessed all the futilities and partaken of all the vanities in life at that time. When adulthood set in, she had embraced her identity, and settled to life by the banks. Here, she built homes, made love, and raised children. She sang songs, wrote poetry, and even whittled statues. Who you desire to be, are the opportunities you will seek. But whoever you are, wherever. Life has in place, all the opportunities you need; To unlock all the doors to your yearnings (if you heed) In plain sight they lurk, waiting for you to focus! But you are busy chasing what you want. Then I look upward, towards the never ending puzzle; The future; My Future! What do I want in the coming year, will I simmer off as always, will I stand my ground, make room for more ground as I wonder in this life under the dome? I awaken, shower, and partake of His word (sometimes). It always gets difficult, the questions only get bolder, my spirit wanes, Lord I know you are out there, send me a hug if you hear me! Please! I boil water, drink tea; Green Tea (no sugar), just in time for my commute. Then I sit 8 to 10 hours, and then commute once again, back to my slumber. As i close my eyes, I hope to awaken in my better tomorrow. Instead, I awaken to this daily routine. This hustle I have been on for five or so years.
